A Villanelle for Father Time

Father Time couldn’t stop thinking about time
Itself/Himself so slippery and loopy
Never had he known anything so sublime
Every morning, Father Time bathed in fresh lime

Then filled himself with warm stopwatch soupy
Father Time couldn't stop thinking about time
Later on, Father Time was spooked by a nude mime
Which reminded him of the last time he made whoopy*

Never had he known anything so sublime
Mother Earth tried to distract him with some ditch dime
Said his mind needed to get a bit more goopy
Father Time couldn't stop thinking about time

Father Time knew he was long past his prime
His crime was becoming dull-witted and stoopy*
Never had he known anything so sublime

Father Time broke down like unregulated enzymes
His mind became dangerously droopy
Father Time couldn't stop thinking about time
Never had he known anything so sublime

*Work with me here, party people!
