Three Sentences About You, Us, and Me

You juggle slippery ellipses,
unaware of your shadow’s impact
upon the seasoned growth underfoot.

We sit,
     cross-legged
between uncanny stars,
contemplating our lack of development,
this stunted growth,
and how restrictive the speed of light.

The grammar of ploughed fields
circumscribes me
and in twilight I sip
the lightening bugs’ glow.
