I love this. Has the tone of Stephen King in it. Yes, please call Nessie, for you, for me, for those who don’t understand Nessie and the damage she will bring…

WHOA! First let’s discuss the not so heavy stuff. I really liked that you used the word embiggen. Ha! Also, you did a WAAAAAAAAAY better job with the concrete poem part of this assignment than I did. I am IMPRESSED.
And holy moly, that is a bold poem! Sort of felt a bit like a punch to the gut… in a good way. I kept thinking, “And this was written by a man?” (Checks again.) “Yes, yes it was.” Made sense by the end though. Good work.

Glad I found the ‘Click to embiggen’ (reference to Jebidiah, there?) link, as I was getting some serious eyestrain trying to read it. Was this your submission to the concrete poetry assignment, or the prose poem? It works for both! I loved it.

Thanks so much for reading and responding. Yeah, WP formatting wouldn’t much allow for the length I needed. This was my submission for the concrete exercise. Prose submission forthcoming! Thanks again for reading.

Apart its unique images & messages, it grasps its narrative fluidity. It is so running on paper words!

Something about Nessie speaking in sibilants- so right. It’s very interesting, because you sort of assume it might be a little jokey from the shape (not sure why, really) so the contrast with the poem’s theme is driven home all the more strongly for that. I admire your passion, the simplicity of ‘make it hurt’ as a parting shot- it leaves with a kick to the head and that’s not bad thing.

Very moving. As a dad of two daughters this really spoke to me. I would have liked to have seen more humps and less loch in the layout, but I wonder if that might’ve made it harder to read. Still, powerful stuff.

Thanks for reading and commenting, Adam. I really would’ve like to have captured Nessie in full-on destruction mode. 🙂
