  1. WHOA! First let’s discuss the not so heavy stuff. I really liked that you used the word embiggen. Ha! Also, you did a WAAAAAAAAAY better job with the concrete poem part of this assignment than I did. I am IMPRESSED.

And holy moly, that is a bold poem! Sort of felt a bit like a punch to the gut… in a good way. I kept thinking, “And this was written by a man?” (Checks again.) “Yes, yes it was.” Made sense by the end though. Good work.

  2. Glad I found the ‘Click to embiggen’ (reference to Jebidiah, there?) link, as I was getting some serious eyestrain trying to read it. Was this your submission to the concrete poetry assignment, or the prose poem? It works for both! I loved it.

    1. Thanks so much for reading and responding. Yeah, WP formatting wouldn’t much allow for the length I needed. This was my submission for the concrete exercise. Prose submission forthcoming! Thanks again for reading.

  3. Something about Nessie speaking in sibilants- so right. It’s very interesting, because you sort of assume it might be a little jokey from the shape (not sure why, really) so the contrast with the poem’s theme is driven home all the more strongly for that. I admire your passion, the simplicity of ‘make it hurt’ as a parting shot- it leaves with a kick to the head and that’s not bad thing.

  4. Very moving. As a dad of two daughters this really spoke to me. I would have liked to have seen more humps and less loch in the layout, but I wonder if that might’ve made it harder to read. Still, powerful stuff.

  5. Thank you so much for liking my poem Bad Rap on WordMusic. I wrote it almost a decade ago and realized I never had posted it to WordMusic. Please go back and look at my other poems on this blog. There are over 220 of them. Aloha!
